Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Badea spent a number of years as a prosecutor and legal clerk at various District Attorney’s offices throughout Oregon after completing law school and being called to the bar in the United States.
Ms. Badea has assisted many British Columbia based clients dealing with the criminal justice system in the United States. Ms. Badea is able to help clients who are under investigation, facing charges or been arrested in the U.S. With her experience in both jurisdictions, Ms. Badea has been able to help her clients navigate a variety of issues and often puts together a skillful team to deal with the specific situation. This will often include hiring local counsel to represent the client facing State or Federal charges in the local jurisdiction and providing legal support between the client and counsel. In addition, she has assisted clients facing extradition from Canada to the United States and from the United States back to Canada. She is also able to assist clients who are working with U.S. Immigration lawyers to provide guidance and support in dealing with cross-border issues.
Her time as both a prosecutor and defence lawyer have provided Ms. Badea with a strong understanding of the criminal justice system in both Canada and the US.
